Emergency Home Repair Assistance

 Application cycle - Opened until all funds are expended 

Funds will be made available to homeowners for Emergency Repairs to their residence. Emergency repairs include but are not limited to:
  • Septic system repair or replacement
  • Roof replacement, includes structural replacement if needed
  • Well repair or replacement including necessary wiring and/or plumbing
  • HVAC system repair or replacement including installation of a new heating unit if the homeowner does not have an existing system
  • Removal of trees or tree trimming which could cause damage to the home
  • Electrical upgrade to meet current code
  • Plumbing repairs and upgrade to meet current code 
The maximum assistance allowed is $15,000. Assistance shall be in the form of a 0% interest loan secured by a recorded mortgage and note; if the cost is $1,500 or less, the assistance will be in the form of a forgivable loan. Assistance is provided on a first-qualified, first-served basis.

Applicants must submit a completed application for determination of eligibility. Assistance will only be provided for homes that are owner-occupied and used as the primary residence. Proof of Homestead exemption is required. All property taxes and mortgages, if applicable, must be current. The residence must be in good condition other that the emergency repair needs. If more than 80% of the home is determined in need of repair, the applicant will not be eligible for assistance.

Emergency Repair is a one time only assistance, except in the case of a county, state or federally declared disaster. Mobile and manufactured homes are not eligible for assistance.
