NOTICE
Implementation of “NEW” Building Permit Fee Schedule
Effective July 1st, 2007

The Sumter County Building Department is implementing a “NEW” Building Permit Fee Schedule beginning July 1, 2007. The new fee schedule was developed to more uniformly collect user fees based on the services offered by the building department. The fee schedule consists of flat rate and calculated minimum fees for services. These services are calculated by “Unit Cost” which is $50 dollars per unit for fiscal year 2007-08.

It is important to note that the “Inspection Unit Fee” is a unit of measurement that includes all expenses incurred by the building department such as plan review, permitting, inspections, contractor licensing, and code enforcement services available to our customers.

Road impact, fire impact and fire assessment fees are calculated utilizing other Sumter County Ordinances and will not be affected by the “New Building Permit Fee Schedule”.

Fees for building permit applications received on or before Friday, June 29, 2007 will be calculated utilizing the Existing Building Permit Fee Schedule.

Fees for building permit applications received on or after Monday, July 2, 2007 will be calculated utilizing the New Building Permit Fee Schedule.

Please review the enclosed fee schedule and a comparison chart to enable you to plan for the new changes effective July 1, 2007. The building department is currently in the process of entering the new fee schedule into our permitting software. We will be training staff during the first few weeks of June so that we can accommodate these changes while offering the best customer service possible.
