Camping Application

  1. Camping is primitive camping ONLY and is only allowed at Marsh Bend, Wahoo, and Lake Okahumpka Parks.

  9. 1. The Applicant agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Sumter County from and against all claims, damages, losses, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys’ fees arising out of the use of the County Facilities pursuant to this agreement, which are (1) for bodily injury, illness, or death, or for property damage, including loss of use, and (2) caused in whole or in part by the Applicant’s negligent act or omission, or that of a guest of the Applicant, or that of anyone employed by them or for whose acts the Applicant may be liable. If deemed necessary, proper proof of a million dollar liability insurance policy naming the Sumter County Board of County Commissioners as additional insured may be required.

    2. ALCOHOL or ILLEGAL DRUGS (unless required for medical purposes) ARE NOT ALLOWED on COUNTY PROPERTY.

    3. Pets on County Park Property must be on a leash and owners are required to clean up after their pets. There are some areas where exceptions may apply. These areas will be clearly posted NO PETS, and you will be expected to abide by the rules as posted.

    4. Check-in before dusk on the first day; check out by noon on the last day.

    5. DO NOT leave food out due to wildlife in the area.

    6. ALL trash generated during use must be placed in the appropriate trash receptacles. This includes trash from the use of any campsite, pavilion, playground, etc. If the Applicant feels that extra trash receptacles will be needed, this should be indicated on the application, or the Applicant must take the excess trash with them upon departure. Excess trash includes trash that will not fit in existing receptacles.

    7. All fires must be contained in the provided fire ring. Campers should bring their own fire extinguishing capability (Bucket to carry water or fire extinguisher) ALL FIRES MUST BE EXTINGUISHED BEFORE LEAVING CAMPSITE!

    8. DO NOT cut down live trees; only burn branches that are laying on the ground or bring your own firewood.

    9. NO FIREWORKS.

    10. NO loud noises after 9 pm.

    11. In case of emergency during office hours, call (352) 689-4400. After hours for any emergency that cannot wait until the next business day (i.e.: power failure, severe damage, etc.), please call (352) 303-5738.

    12. If a situation has occurred that needs to be reported, but does not require immediate emergency attention, please notify the office as soon as possible during regular office hours, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.

    13. In case of emergency call 911.

  10. I/We, fully understand that completion/submittal of this application does not confirm my request. In addition, I/We understand that ALL requests are subject to staff approval and are processed on a first come first serve basis and upon approval when deemed appropriate by Management. Upon review, a designated staff member will notify me or one of my contacts regarding the status of this request and whether or not there is any additional information required.

By submitting below, I acknowledge that I have read and understand and fully agree to all of the items and terms outlined in the Facility Usage Agreement-Camping, including how to proceed in the event of any emergencies needing immediate attention during my event.
